The Parasound Zphono XRM is an advanced phono preamplifier engineered to extract detailed, accurate and musical performance from vinyl records. Designed for both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges, it provides a broad range of gain and loading options, making it compatible with a wide variety of turntables and cartridge designs.

The Zphono XRM features selectable 40dB, 50dB and 60dB gain settings for unbalanced outputs, while balanced outputs provide 46dB, 56dB and 66dB of gain. MM cartridges use a 47kΩ input impedance, while MC loading can be continuously adjusted from 50Ω to 1050Ω, allowing the phono stage to be carefully matched to different Moving Coil cartridges.

Precision RIAA equalisation provides a frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz within ±0.2dB. The circuitry achieves 0.02% total harmonic distortion at 1kHz and offers a signal-to-noise ratio of more than 94dB in MM operation at the 40dB and 50dB gain settings.

For added flexibility, the Zphono XRM provides two phono inputs—one MM and one MC—allowing two turntables to be connected simultaneously. Front-panel controls provide input selection, mono/stereo operation and rumble-filter switching. A 40Hz high-pass rumble filter helps reduce unwanted low-frequency noise.

The unit features both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs, making it suitable for integration with a wide range of high-end preamplifiers and amplifiers. Its internal low-noise linear power supply and compact 1U, half-rack chassis complete a sophisticated phono stage designed for demanding vinyl systems.
