The Parasound JC5 Halo is a reference-quality 2-channel stereo power amplifier designed for listeners who require substantial power, current delivery and refined sonic performance. Developed by Parasound's engineering team with John Curl, the JC5 combines a high-bias Class A/AB topology with a sophisticated dual-mono power supply architecture.

The JC5 produces 400W per channel into 8Ω and 600W per channel into 4Ω, with both channels driven across the full 20Hz–20kHz audio range. In bridged mode, it can deliver an impressive 1,200W into an 8Ω speaker, making it suitable for very demanding loudspeaker applications.

A massive 1.7kVA shielded toroidal transformer supplies substantial current reserves, while 112,000µF of filter capacitance supports powerful transient response. The output stage uses high-current bipolar transistors with a peak current capability of 60A per channel, helping the amplifier maintain excellent control over difficult speaker loads.

The JC5 provides both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, allowing straightforward connection to high-end stereo preamplifiers and AV processors. Heavy-duty 24k gold-plated 5-way speaker binding posts provide secure connections to compatible loudspeaker cables.

The amplifier incorporates a high-speed protection system with DC detection and relay protection, along with a 12V trigger input and audio-sensing automatic turn-on. Its substantial 2U chassis is designed for high-end installations, with optional rack-mount hardware available.
