The Parasound JC3 Jr Halo is a sophisticated phono preamplifier designed for serious vinyl enthusiasts who demand high-quality analogue reproduction. Developed around circuitry designed by renowned audio engineer John Curl, the JC3 Jr combines low-noise operation, flexible cartridge matching and premium components in a compact chassis.

The phono stage supports Moving Magnet, Moving Coil and Moving Iron cartridges. It provides selectable 40dB, 50dB and 60dB gain for unbalanced outputs, while balanced operation provides 46dB, 56dB and 66dB gain. Moving Coil cartridges can be matched using variable input impedance from 50Ω to 550Ω, providing flexibility for different cartridge designs.

Precision RIAA equalisation is accurate to within ±0.2dB from 20Hz to 20kHz. The JC3 Jr achieves total harmonic distortion below 0.02% at 1kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 94dB at the 60dB gain setting.

The unit features both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs, with Neutrik locking XLR connectors and Vampire 24k gold-plated RCA jacks. Vishay-Dale resistors are used in the audio path, while an aluminium shield separates the power supply and audio circuits. A shielded toroidal power transformer and high-speed soft-recovery rectifiers further help minimise noise.

A mono switch is included for mono and older LPs, while a 12V trigger input enables convenient automatic turn-on.
