The Parasound JC3+ Halo is a high-end phono preamplifier designed by renowned audio engineer John Curl for extracting exceptional detail, dynamics and musicality from vinyl records. Its fully analogue, dual-mono architecture keeps the left and right channels separately isolated, helping minimise crosstalk and unwanted interference.

The JC3+ supports both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil cartridges. MM cartridges use a 47kΩ input impedance and 48dB of gain, while MC operation provides 64dB of gain and selectable loading from 50Ω to 550Ω, with a fixed 47kΩ option. This adjustable loading allows the phono stage to be accurately matched to a wide range of MC cartridges.

Precision RIAA equalisation is accurate to ±0.2dB from 20Hz to 20kHz, while total harmonic distortion is below 0.01% at 1kHz. The JC3+ achieves an impressive signal-to-noise ratio of greater than 87dB for both MM and MC operation under IHF A-weighted measurement conditions.

Premium components include Vishay-Dale resistors throughout the audio path, Vampire 24k gold-plated RCA connectors and Neutrik balanced XLR connectors. Triple shielding and separate power-supply circuitry for each channel help reduce noise and interference.

The JC3+ also includes a mono switch for mono and older LPs, an AC polarity reverse switch to help minimise hum, an integrated AC line conditioner and a 12V trigger input for automatic turn-on. Its substantial 2U chassis can also be rack-mounted using the optional HRA2 accessory.
