The Parasound Halo A31 is a premium 3-channel power amplifier designed to provide powerful, controlled and detailed amplification for high-end home-theatre and multi-channel audio systems. Designed by renowned audio engineer John Curl, it combines high-bias Class A/AB operation with a direct-coupled signal path for accurate and dynamic sound reproduction.

The A31 delivers 250W RMS per channel into 8Ω and 400W RMS per channel into 4Ω, with all three channels driven continuously from 20Hz to 20kHz. Its 60A peak current capability per channel provides substantial drive for demanding loudspeakers, while the high-bias design keeps the first approximately 7 watts in pure Class A operation.

A large 1.5kVA encapsulated toroidal transformer uses independent secondary windings for each channel, supported by 98,400µF of power-supply filter capacitance. The amplifier employs JFET input circuitry, complementary MOSFET driver stages and 24 beta-matched high-current bipolar output transistors.

For flexible system integration, the A31 provides both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs. Adjustable gain allows up to +6dB above THX Reference level, while heavy-duty 24k gold-plated 5-way speaker terminals provide secure loudspeaker connections.

The A31 is THX Ultra2 certified and includes DC servo and relay protection circuits, high-temperature indicators and automatic turn-on through either a 12V trigger or audio signal. Its substantial 4U chassis includes carry handles and rack-mounting hardware.

With its high-current output stage, large toroidal power supply and three powerful channels, the Parasound Halo A31 is especially suited to powering the front three channels of a serious home-theatre system while also offering excellent performance for high-quality music reproduction.
